A larger than average Chinese export umbrella stand made from fine white porcelain, richly decorated with enamels & raised gold embellishments. It IS beautifully decorated and upon arrival will not disappoint. A fantastic piece. The two white panels depict magnificent green peacocks with gold highlights on their tail feathers, smaller birds flit around, each panel signed with calligraphy towards the top. The peacocks are perched on traditionally styled Chinese rock landscape with colourful flowers. Areas between the panels are gold, black, burgundy and royal blue - somewhat Japanese Imari in style. Symbolic mons and chrysanthemums throughout, with Buddhist panels above and below the royal blue and white borders on the top and lower side. A gorgeously decorative cylindrical umbrella stand that can also be used for golf clubs, walking sticks etc. Excellent condition. Weight 15lbs. H24", Dia 9".
