A most unusual and rare figural grouping. The piece when we acquired it was labelled "Neptunes Child". It consists of a traditionally clad smiling Chinese baby boy atop a huge breaking blue and white wave. A green scaled and horned dragon rears up out of the sea majestically. The all important little boy has one hand on Dragon - very symbolic.
Below are strange & mystical creatures, widely imaginative even by Chinese standards - they consist of a human headed moustached turtle holding a pair of what looks similar to 'maracas' on the left and a fish headed figure with a pair of swords on the right that resembles a 'pirate'.
The boy holds a copper hoop, original. He seems to be stood on top of two golden wheels with the eternal flames. Gilt highlights.
Porcelain, slip cast. Condition: excellent. Age: 1920's.
A collectable piece of Chinese porcelain that we have not seen the likes of before.
