An exceptionally beautiful work of art from Italy. A massive (24") & rare leaf-form Italian centerpiece tray in a naturalistic design reminiscent of the Italian Grotto Style. Painstakingly hand carved and polychromed in delicate coral, peach, green, gold with silver leaf. The little insects painted on the surface appear almost 3-dimensional and irredescent. Would make a spectacular focal point in a variety of interior designs. Has a stable, flat bottom covered with felt. No markings. Condition is very good with some minor signs of wear and age. Italian, early 20th Century. This piece has been well cared for and isan outstanding piece of skilled craftmanship that will be admired by many - including us!
