Very nice vintage hand-carved & polychromed Javanese framed mirror designed as a shuttered window. From the Indonesian island of Java - this polychromed wooden wall mirror has an intricately hand carved floral and scroll leaf frame. Expert joinery featuring pinned mortise-and-tenon construction. From the central Java area. The doors open up to reveal the mirror - these can either be shut or left open as they lie flat against the frame. The mirror can also be removed and substitued for another medium if required. A picture, drawing or as a window frame between areas/walls. The pretty colours include pale blue, blue, green, pale yellow, white, red and hints ov lavender or purple. A pleasing combination. No markings. Vintage 1970s - 1990s. Good condition with minor expected surface wear.
