Indian Spice box, a traditional celled container for holding Kumkuma - different colored powders used for social and religious festivals; such as turmeric and vermillion. This antique storage box has six heart shaped containers with hinged lids and finials. The main finial is a sacred Indian bird. The finial unscrews releasing the lids. The base has 6 feet on which the metal caddy rests upon. We believe it to be solid brass. Raj Indian style, 20th century. Today this can be used for storing small items or as a decorative piece that is bound to attract attention. Dimensions: Dia 6.5", H5". *Original patina, not polished.
