Antique Burmese Gold & Red Lacquered Monk Statue or Figure, 19th Century

Appealing terracotta red and gold Antique Burmese Monk on inscribed plinth. The young monk is sitting with his legs to the side, with his hands in prayer / meditation. Both the robe and base are decorated with a single row of small 'circular glass pieces' that gleam in the light. (2 missing on the back.) This figure is hand carved wood, lacquered and with gilt. Correct amount of patination for age.
Age Mid- Late 19th. Century, possibly earlier.
Purchased in Rangoon in the 1980's by ourselves.
As of Dec 2021 Sothebys had an almost identical piece for sale at auction - starting price was $1250.
