This is one of the finest example of Chinese lacquerware we have had the pleasure of offering and probably the only one we'll ever have for sale.
The low table has a waisted top, with a very intricately designed surface featuring an elaborate Buddhist central floral medallion within a meticulous border extending outwards to four points. Corner decorations, and intricate cross hatched sides. This is over a carved, lacquered, and gilt skirt with golden Greek key edging and incorporates some aspects of the Ming style.
Supported on cabriole legs with auspicious red bats and decorated stretchers. The design incorporates classic Eastern and Western elements typical of the finest examples from this period - a very desirable and rare piece.
This low table has many uses - as a table, a stand or pedestal, entry or hall way feature, an addition to a console or table.
No markings.
Condition is very good with expected minor loss to lacquer and gold in places.
Late 19th/Early 20th. Century Late Qing Dynasty.
