20th C. Thai School Original Gouache Village Scene Manner of Ancient Manuscript Illustrations

Exquisite and intricate original gouache on board portraying a lively Thai village scene. Painted in the manner of the ancient manuscript illustrations found in museums all over the world.  The artwork shows people going about their everyday lives on a river bank or klong.  From selling vegetables, fruits, weaving, cooking, bartering - the detail of the homes is just so interesting.  Even to the fish shaped wind chimes in the windows.

Matted and presented in a wonderful pickled finish gold leaf frame which compliments the warmth of the colours found in the painting.
